John Denver, a singer-songwriter from Colorado who specialized in folk pop music touched the hearts of millions. He was born Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. in Roswell New Mexico, he was in the love of Colorado and then relocated to Aspen. Denver's national anthems to his adopted state has drawn a lot of people to Colorado. G. Brown, curator of Colorado Music Hall of Fame stated it was because John Denver is the only performer to embody Colorado. In 2011 Denver was named the first Hall of Fame inductee. Denver is a symbol of the state for all people. In all my travels I've met a lot of non-Colorado residents. Colorado. People will beg, "Oh John Denver!" whenever they learn that you come from Colorado. Brown said. Take Me Home Country Roads written by co-writer Bill Danoff - was Denver's first Top 10 single as a solo performer after a brief time in small folk groups. Danoff had originally written the tune using Johnny Cash's songs with a focus on Johnny Cash, however Denver knew from the first moment he listened to the early versions that the song was going to be an instant success. He recorded it within a couple of days of having performed on stage in Washington D.C. before an large crowd who were very appreciative.
