John Denver became a star through the folk-inspired songs he composed, the majority of them situated in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. was born in Roswell in New Mexico. He was enthralled by Colorado and eventually settled in Aspen. A few took the road towards Colorado following the Denver's cult anthems to his adopted state. I can't think of another performer that embodies Colorado such as John Denver said G. Brown curator of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame. Denver was the first Hall of Fame ever inductee. He is now the face of Colorado on the world stage. You meet people in different countries, such as New Zealanders. They say "I am Colorado" and they say "I am from Colorado" and they instantly respond by saying Oh John Denver. Brown declared. Take Me Home Country Roads is the only Denver Top 10 Hit as a Solo Artist after working with small folk groups. The song was composed by Bill Danoff. Danoff had originally written the tune to Johnny Cash's tune with a focus on Johnny Cash, however Denver knew from the first moment he listened to the earlier versions that it could be a huge success. Just a few days after the performance to a throng of fans in Washington D.C., the singer recorded this song.
